AliExpress vs Banggood
AliExpress has the catalogue and the escrow. Banggood is the seller itself and stands behind what it sells with a warranty, on a shorter returns clock.
AliExpress
The deepest catalogue in the category, and fifteen days to complain about it.
Banggood
A shop rather than a marketplace, and the only one here with a warranty of its own.
Who should pick which
Choose AliExpress if
- Specific parts, components and anything with a part number
- Buyers who will open the parcel the day it arrives
Choose Banggood if
- Hobby electronics: radio control, drones, 3D printers, tools and gadgets
- Anyone who wants a warranty rather than only a return window

Pricing side by side
AliExpress
Price level: Budget
Independent sellers list the same item at several prices on the same day, so there is no price to quote.
EU: AliExpress collects VAT on orders up to EUR 150, and its sellers declare the AliExpress IOSS number. Customs duties are "never covered by AliExpress", and the carrier collects them on delivery. Its guidance still promises a duty exemption on parcels up to EUR 150 that ended on 1 July 2026.
US: sales tax follows a state-by-state list whose most recent entry is dated July 2021, and nothing on the page reflects the 2026 changes.
Banggood
Price level: Mid-range
Banggood sets its own prices, because it is the seller. They sit above Temu and AliExpress, and there is no single figure worth quoting.
EU: VAT has been in the selling price since 1 July 2021, and if a courier charges it again Banggood refunds the VAT on the invoice, though not the courier's handling fee. Duties are not collected at checkout. If you bought its tariff service with the order and customs then bills you, Banggood reimburses the duty and processing costs, up to 60 percent of the item value. Without that service, the duty is yours.
None of the Banggood tax pages we read mentions the 2026 changes in the EU or the US. The general tax article is dated 15 September 2021.
Strengths and weaknesses
AliExpress
What works
- The deepest catalogue in the category, and the only place to find specific parts
- Payment held in escrow until you confirm receipt
- The only platform here that states it holds an IOSS registration for EU VAT
- 24/7 live chat and a dispute process that has been running for over a decade
What does not
- Fifteen days from delivery to raise a problem, against ninety at Temu
- Customs guidance still describes the EU exemption that ended on 1 July 2026
- Duties are explicitly never covered, and arrive as a bill from the carrier
- Seller quality varies enormously and nobody inspects them
Banggood
What works
- A published warranty by category, a year on laptops, phones and 3D printers and two years on solid state drives
- Banggood is the seller, so there is no seller lottery and one name on the invoice
- EU VAT has been in the price since July 2021, with a refund if customs charges it again
- Over 30 warehouses worldwide, so part of the range ships from local stock
What does not
- Fourteen days to change your mind on most categories, the shortest headline window of the seven
- You pay return shipping, and any customs on the way back, for anything that is not a fault
- Duty cover is a paid add-on, reimbursed after the fact and capped at 60 percent of the item value
- Priced as a retailer, above the budget marketplaces on this page
