The best guarantee here
Threadless is an artist marketplace for T-shirts, prints and home goods, curated rather than vast, and it has the simplest guarantee of the six in our comparison.
Its help centre puts it plainly: "we don't do traditional returns". Instead, if you are not happy with your order "for any reason", you contact the Help Team within 60 days of receipt and get "a hassle free replacement or reimbursement". Photos help where there is something to see. Nothing has to go back in the post.
That is twice the window of CafePress and Society6, with no return postage and no fee. Threadless's own guarantee page says the same thing in different words, and the two match.
It scores 6.9 under how we rate and sits in our also-considered list.
A euro price on an imported parcel
The store can be switched to euros or pounds, which suggests a European operation. The shipping articles describe a different one.
Standard international orders are printed and packed at Threadless's own facility, collected by DHL eCommerce, carried to your country and handed to the national post. The articles do not say where that facility is, and they do not describe printing in Europe. Threadless puts the transit at 4 to 8 days and the whole journey at typically 2 to 3 weeks, up to 5 if customs holds the parcel. Customs fees and import duties "may apply", and Threadless is honest that they go "to your government, not Threadless".
So a European buyer gets the best guarantee of the six and a slower, less predictable parcel than the two marketplaces that print in Europe.
Prices
A standard mug was $18.95 on 28 October, shown against a $21.95 comparison price. Threadless defines comparison prices as "regular retail prices of the same or similar items in Artist Shops or at third party retail locations", so, as at Zazzle and CafePress, the crossed-out figure is not necessarily Threadless's own earlier price.
Why it is not one of the four
It has the strongest guarantee, and it lost on the other two questions this page asks. You cannot personalise anything: you buy the artist's design as it is. And outside the US you wait two to three weeks for a parcel that can bring a customs bill, where Spreadshirt and Redbubble print most European orders in Europe.
Buy from Threadless in the US, or anywhere if you are not in a hurry, for an artist's T-shirt or print you want the option to change your mind about.
The guarantee, shipping and customs terms on this page were read on threadless.com and the Threadless help centre on . We placed no orders.
